State Representative Nick Miccarelli Visits Today's Child
Pennsylvania State Representative Nick Miccarelli (R-162), visited Main Campus on April 16, as part of Main Campus's "Week of the Young Child" celebration. Children were excited to see Miccarelli, making posters and signs for the event. Miccarelli read "What a Treasure" by Jane and Will Hillenbrand as students attentively listened. Afterwards, Miccarelli posed for pictures with the children while answering some questions from them. Miccarelli went to each classroom, spending time with all of Main Campus's children.
Librarian Vi Jolly from the Sharon Hill Public Library was in attendance, reading to several other classes at Main. Jolly had stickers and coloring books for all the children she read to. Also present were several officers from the Sharon Hill Police Department and Delaware County Community Engagement Coordinator Ricky Pfeifer.
Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.
Young children and their families in Delaware County depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start, and bring lasting benefits to the area. Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.
Today’s Child Learning Centers has many early childhood professionals working together to improve professional practice and working conditions in early childhood education, and to build public support for high-quality early childhood education programs.
